Though your beginning was small yet your latter end would increase abundantly.
Job 8:7 (NKJV)
Job is going through the darkest moment of his life. He has lost everything. His health, children, and property are no more. Every aspect of his life is in turmoil. He is physically, mentally, and spiritually exhausted. Not even God seems to care.
You Will Increase
In Job’s hour of anguish, three of his friends come to console him. Their support, however, turns out to be criticism. The trio is convinced that Job is suffering because of some hidden sin. While his job is not sinless, he cannot trace his suffering to a specific instance of disobedience.
Thankfully, even as they criticize Job, these friends dole out nuggets of wisdom. Bildad, for example, gives hope to Job by stating, “Though your beginning was small, your latter end would increase abundantly.” (Job 8:7).
Hope for Tomorrow
Bildad opines that when human beings seek God with pure and upright hearts, He changes their situations. In other words, Job’s current painful situation is not the end of his story. He might appear to be a loser now, but God is able to make his story significantly different. Bildad’s words eventually came true because “the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.” (Job 42:12).
Is your situation like Job’s? Are you going through difficult moments when no one understands you and God seems to hide His face from you? Do you feel as if your situation is permanent and you have no hope of getting out of your current quandary?
You Have a Bright Future
Hold on to God. Obey him without question. Serve him faithfully. He never forgets his faithful people. Your hardship will not last forever. Indeed, your end will be better than your beginning because God is in control of your life despite His seeming absence.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You because my tomorrow will be better than my today.
