Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”.
John 14:6
Today’s text arose from a question by Thomas, the doubter. Jesus had promised His disciples mansions in His Father’s house. Thomas wanted the Master to clarify one issue. In John 14:5, the disciple asked, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
In response, Jesus made a statement that every Christian should memorize, understand and live by. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). There is deep wisdom with eternal implications in this verse.
Because Jesus is the way, if you follow him you will never get lost. God’s children have a roadmap. Heaven, the New Earth and an eternity to be spent with God are the ultimate destination that Jesus leads to. Conversely, if you reject Christ, you are lost because you have no way to reach God.
Similarly, since Jesus is the truth, if you believe in Him you are knowledgeable and wise. You live by the word of God. You walk not in ignorance. This implies that anyone who does not believe in Christ can effectively be called a fool (See Psalm 14:1).
Likewise, because Jesus is the life, you have eternal life if you believe in Him. You walk in the newness of life. Your life is vibrant and joyful. In contrast, if you do not know Christ, you have no hope of eternal life. Your current life may be one of misery and hopelessness even if you appear happy outwardly.
In essence, without the Way, you are lost. Without the Truth, you are ignorant. Without the Life, you are dead. You cannot reach the Father without the Son. There is not shortcut to God.
Prayer
Father, please help me know Jesus; the Way, the Truth and the Life, because that is the only way to reach you.
Surely, as a christian, one should do. as Christ did. Follow God’s commandments. Believe and have FAITH in God, LOVE HIM and LOVE your neighbor as you LOVE yourself. No shortcut and the command is also simple. Constant prayers is communication with God. Let us be like Jesus.
Amen! Well-said, senior.
Amen thanks again for the reminder that without christ we are nothing
Amen, Brian
