Trusting God’s Goodness During Trials

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, January 7, 2024
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD
In the land of the living.
Psalms 27:13 (NKJV)

Hardship and prayer are critical teachers in my spiritual journey. I have gradually moved from almost doubting God to trusting His goodness. Since the onset of the year, Satan has sustained his attacks on me, often through spiritual brethren.

I Will See the Lord’s Goodness

The evil one wants me to question God’s goodness and give up my faith. Instead of despairing, therefore, I have learned to lean on the Lord and believe He wants the best for me.

As I tackle my storm by the grace of God, I take comfort in the words of the psalmist: “I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.” (Psalms 27:13).

Trusting God’s Goodness During Trials

I will not give up because I know God understands me and has my best interests at heart. I may not count on human beings, but God will never abandon me. He is the one who knows my ups and downs and my strengths and weaknesses, yet He continues to love me unconditionally.

Because He is faithful to His promises, He will see me through the furnace. Indeed, I will experience the Lord’s goodness in this life. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalms 23:6). If you are going through trials and God appears to hide His face, trust His goodness. He will come through for you.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing goodness, especially when I am going through trials.
