Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Galatians 6:10 (NIV)
The late Mother Teresa of Calcutta is renowned for her dedication to uplifting the poor in society. Hers was a story of selflessness and kindness. She saw the opportunity to do good and took it wholeheartedly.
Mother Theresa represents many people whose generosity has transformed the world. The average person you meet daily is fighting a battle. There are uncountable opportunities to be kind to such individuals.
Jesus said, “You will always have the poor among you…” (John 12:8 NLT). Christ’s words remind us that the we will never exhaust opportunities to do good. Poverty is relative. At any one time, you are richer than many other people.
In Galatians 6:10, we read, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people…”. When an opportunity for kindness exists, we are required to act accordingly. In other words, if you have the ability to help, do not hesitate
Note that generosity is to be extended to “all people”. This includes family members, strangers, orphans, widows, the sick, those in prison, beggars on the street and so on.
We are further urged to assist, “especially to those who belong to the family of believers. During Paul’s time, Christians were being persecuted for their faith. Many became poor and helpless. Fellow believers with means were urged to help the needy.
What opportunities for doing good do you see among fellow believers? Are there gaps in your community that you could bridge through your generosity? What is God whispering into your heart today?
Prayer
Dear God, reveal to me opportunities for doing good. Use me to bring joy to people in need.
Amen
Amen, Rose. God bless you.
Amen!
This is what God needs today ,he needs men and women who will ask, “What will happen to humanity if I don’t help?
Helping someone and just hearing that “thank you ” is a great feeling.
It’s also a means of connecting to Christ, rem-” He that has done it to the least of these has also done it to me” God Bless 🙏
Amen, Charles. You stated it very clearly. God expects us to reach to others around us and offer a helping hand. Be blessed.
