It’s Not Over Yet!

Daily Devotional – Sunday, February 21, 2021

At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.

Job 14:7 (NIV)

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one person commits suicide every 2o seconds. Further, the last 45 years have witnessed a 60% increase in suicide cases globally. These statistics indicate that many people are helpless, hopeless and have given up.

If you look around you, there are enough reasons to throw in the towel. However, as a child of God, there are powerful reasons not to give up. Consider Job. This man lost children, property, health – everything! His wife even told him to curse God and die.

How did Job react? He chose to remain loyal to God. He confidently asserted, “At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.” (Job 14:7).

Job refused to give up. Like a tree that had been cut down but still had roots, he could sprout and thrive again. As long as he was alive, there was hope for him. As long as his Redeemer was alive, Job’s case was still before the judge.

Have you given up on yourself? Is there a cherished dream that you have stopped praying for because you see no hope of fulfilment? Is there are friend or relative you think will never accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour?

Don’t lose hope. You can sprout again. The new shoots of your dream will thrive. Hang in there. Keep you knees on the floor and focus your eyes towards heaven. It’s not over yet.

Prayer

Dear Lord, increase my faith because I want to hang in there until you answer my prayers.

Hope makes our faith manifest. Hope does not just come it triggered by reading the word of God. A trunk left after the cutting of the tree can only be used as firewood. No other hope. If connected to the source in this case God, the hope is revived and the tree is alive again
This is wonderful devotion for us.
