Be Angry, And Do Not Sin

Daily Devotional – Saturday, April 13, 2024
“Be angry, and do not sin.” Do not let the sun go down on your wrath
Ephesians 4:26 (NKJV)

Anger is a strong emotion that has the ability to take hold of our hearts and impair our judgment. It may be brought on by anger, hurt, or a feeling of unfairness. Anger may not necessarily lead to sin, but it can be damaging when we let it take control of us.

Control Your Wrath

Paul cautions us, “Be angry, and do not sin,” because of this: do not let your rage to get darker. (Ephesians 4:26). When our anger flares, do we react with regrettable words or deeds later on? Or do we ask God to help us understand how to deal with our feelings?

Giving your wrath up to God is the secret to controlling it. We can bring it at the foot of the cross instead of letting it stew and fester within of us. Jesus urges us to give our burdens to Him because He is aware of our troubles. We get the fortitude and perspective we need to resist the urge to become angry via prayer and meditation on His Word.

Be Angry, And Do Not Sin

In addition, managing anger requires developing an attitude of forgiveness. Keeping grudges simply serves to feed the bitterness and anger cycle. We experience an unfathomable sense of liberation and serenity when we let go of our anger and show grace to those who have wronged us.

When we are angry, may we try to be as patient and humble as Christ, and believe that He has the ability to change our hearts from hate to love. Stay angry and avoid sinning.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I surrender my anger to you. Help me control it.
