Why We Should Trust God’s Perfect Timing

Daily Devotional – Saturday, May 4, 2024
To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)

There is a tempo and a rhythm to the vast fabric of existence that God has woven together. This cadence, this temporal movement, permeates all aspect of our lives. Every moment is carefully woven into the tapestry of time, from the joyful moments of birth to the somber moments of death, from planting seasons to harvest seasons.

Believe in God’s Impeccable Timing

Humans have trouble understanding time all the time. We yearn for instant satisfaction, prompt resolutions to our problems, and prompt answers to our prayers. However, God’s timetable defies our limited comprehension. His timing is impeccable, incomprehensible, and beyond our power to comprehend.

The Lazarus story appears in the New Testament. When Jesus learned of Lazarus’s condition, He purposefully postponed His trip to Bethany. Lazarus had been dead for four days when Jesus came. In mourning for their brother, Martha and Mary wondered why Jesus had not arrived sooner. However, in His infinite wisdom, Jesus took advantage of this chance to work one of His greatest miracles, bringing God’s glory to light by resurrecting Lazarus from the dead.

Why We Should Trust God’s Perfect Timing

This story demonstrates God’s control over time. Even if His timing sometimes deviates from what we would expect, it is always deliberate and exact. “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Therefore, God urges us to trust His perfect timing and to let go of our worries and impatience.

Prayer
Almighty Father, please help us to put our faith in Your perfect timing, even in the absence of a clear understanding of why we are waiting.
