Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:8 (NIV)
“Prove that you love me.” Have you ever been put on your defense using this statement? How did you act? Was your action interpreted as loyalty or betrayal?
Words, alone, cannot be taken as proof of love. The mouth may say one thing and act in a different manner. Written or electronic messages may have been borrowed from another source. The most genuine proof of love, therefore, is through actions of love.
Our Heavenly Father, too, is concerned with how we demonstrate love for Him. Love for others proves that we love God. The Apostle John wrote, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:8).
In verse 11, he adds, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
You cannot claim to love God yet you hate your fellow human beings. Loving others is reproducing what God did in loving us when we did not love Him (verse 10).
Are there people in your life you find unlovable, perhaps because of their evil behaviour and speech? Is there someone who has hurt you so much that you are reluctant to forgive them? Well, you have no choice but to extend love to such people.
To demonstrate God’s love, treat others with dignity, understanding and kindness. Today, find a person you can extend genuine godly love to by words and deeds. It may be a close family member, a workmate, classmate, neighbor or even a stranger.
Leave a positive and memorable mark in their lives of others. Prove that you sincerely love God.
Lord Jesus, teach me how to love others as You have commanded me to.
I embrace the unceasing love of christ and extend the same to all .

Amen, Juster. May God grant the desires of your heart.
