When False Evidence Appears Real

Daily Devotional – Saturday, March 13, 2021

The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?

Psalms 27:1 (NKJV)

As a child, I looked upon my older brothers for protection from bullies. Whenever I was threated, I would invoke the names of my older siblings, and the tyrant would flee. It was reassuring to know that someone more powerful than me had my back.

When I read Psalm 27, I imagine David pointing his enemies to the Almighty God. This is a man who had encountered formidable foes, such as ferocious wild animals, Goliath, King Saul and David’s own son, Absalom.

Thankfully, God always delivered David. That is why David could declare in Psalm 27:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? David had learned that with God on his side, there was nothing to dread.

Fear is going through failure in your mind, as if it was happening in real sense. It is an illusion. FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real.  Do you know that most of the issues you fear never take place? You suffer mental anguish for no reason.

What do you fear most today? Losing a job or income? Losing a loved one? Contracting a deadly disease? Accidents of various kinds? Separation and divorce? Failing an exam? Failing to achieve your dreams?

Let go your fears and trust the God of David. Adopt David’s attitude, “The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?  As a child of God, you have nothing to fear.

When the bully called FEAR confronts you, point it to your Father – the Almighty God, and wait peacefully for Him to act.

Prayer

Father, because You are with me, I will fear no one. I will fear nothing.
