When the Miracle You Seek is in Your Hand

The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
Deuteronomy 28:12 (NKJV)

A Facebook post caught my eye because of the powerful message it conveyed. A man was kneeling, facing heaven, and pleading for help from God. In the next frame, a hand emerged from heaven, extending a farm implement to the man, as if to say, “The miracle you seek is in your hands.”

The Work of Your Hands

Incidentally, scripture teaches this principle in Deuteronomy 28:12, where God states, “The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.” (Deuteronomy 28:12).

This verse summarizes the process through which God bestows upon us material blessings. He sends heavenly treasure in the form of rain. Man goes to work. God blesses the work of man’s hand, and he becomes a lender and not a borrower. That is the miracle we pursue from God without realizing we have a key role to play.

When the Miracle You Seek is in Your Hand

Success is the union of God’s resources with human effort. No matter how much time we spend praying, we will only succeed when we go out and give our best in our workplaces, businesses, academic pursuits, and wherever God has placed us. God is a worker. He expects us to cooperate with Him through diligent and honest work.

Which miracle are you seeking from God? Is it possible that you are not playing your role? Are you using the resources within your reach? Are you utilizing the people around you and the opportunities God brings your way? Even as you pray, find out whether the miracle you seek is in your hands.
