O The Privilege of Being Saved by Grace!

Daily Devotional – Monday, June 24, 2024
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

It is easy to believe that our salvation is dependent on our kindness or hard work. Scripture, though, reminds us we are the beneficiaries of the privilege of being saved by grace. It is not based on our merit or deeds; rather, it is His initiative and freely offered gift.

Grace is not something we earn or deserve. His grace alone is the reason for our redemption and peace with God. We ought to be humbled before Him and filled with wonder at this awareness.

No Reason for Boasting

Grace is offered freely, but it takes faith to make it work in our lives. We must put our faith in God’s promises, accepting that Jesus Christ died on the cross and resurrected from the dead, and giving our life to Him.

Moreover, we are saved “not by works, so that no one can boast.” If our work determined our salvation, we could take pride in our achievements. However, God’s grace eliminates any cause for arrogance and reminds us of our complete dependence on His love and mercy.

O The Privilege of Being Saved by Grace!

Knowing that we have been showered with such much grace, it forces us to show grace to others. It inspires us to live lives of thanksgiving, adoration, and submission to God. We now rest in God’s love instead of trying to win His favor.

O the privilege of beings saved by grace! May this understanding serve as a rock for our souls during difficult times and encourage us to live bravely for God’s glory since we know that His grace is more than enough for us.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please enable me to completely comprehend the breadth of Your grace and the depth of Your love.
