The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them
Psalm 34:7 (NIV)
The old preacher brought his powerful sermon to a stop. A mean-looking, badly-dressed, muscular man, laboured towards the altar.
With a deep shaky voice, the stranger said, “Before I surrender to Jesus, I have a question. Who is the dazzling, strong, sword-wielding man that follows you wherever you go?”
What do you mean?” The confused preacher’s asked.
“Until today, I was an armed robber. I mugged, injured and killed many people in this town. Only you escaped me. My colleagues and I have tried in vain to attack you. The glittering man with flaming swords takes various positions around you, shielding you from us. Tell me, who is that man?”
Realizing that only one being fitted the description, the overjoyed preacher reached for his Bible and read Psalm 34:7 loudly. “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.”
The penitent robber fell on the floor and pleaded for God’s forgiveness. He submitted himself to the Almighty God who could protect His people from all forms of danger.
We, too, can be sure of this VIP protection, 24/7. If God would allow us to watch videos of our past, we would be surprised at the numerous occasions when His angels saved us from injury and death.
How differently would we live if we became conscious that we have guardian angels walking alongside us every day? Would our thoughts, words and actions remain the same if we realized that, even when we think we are alone, God’s angels are right there with us?
Thank you, God, for offering me the constant care and protection of Your holy angels.
Amen
