What Can Man Do to Me?

In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust. I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
Psalms 56:4 (NKJV)

In today’s key text, David bravely acknowledges his faith in God in the midst of great adversity. He is asserting a deep truth when he writes, “What can flesh do to me?” God is bigger than all the power and influence of this world.

Mere Mortals are Powerless

David is aware that God is his ultimate guardian, his strength, and his haven. How often do we feel like David did when faced with hardship, be it rejection, criticism, or persecution? We must never forget that our identity as God’s children gives us security and worth.

Consider for a moment the anxieties that might be preventing you from moving forward. Do you fear other people’s opinions or looking foolish in their eyes? Bring your fears before God, and ask Him to give you a new perspective on them. Spend some time in prayer and Bible Study, giving thanks to God for His omnipotence.

What Can Man Do to Me?

Make an effort to assist someone who could be experiencing fear or insecurity. In the end, no one can take away their value or destiny in Christ, so remind them of that and God’s protection.

God is with you, even when it feels like the world is too much for you to handle. God has already conquered every obstacle you will encounter. What can mere mortals do to you when God is on your side? Allow that reality to give you courage and serenity today and always.

Heavenly Father, please help me to overcome my fear of people, and lead me to confidently walk in faith.
