Who is Your Helper?

Daily Devotional – Saturday, October 19
Behold, God is my helper. The Lord is with those who uphold my life.
Psalms 54:4 (NKJV)

Today’s key text reminds us of God’s steadfast support when we face difficulties and uncertainty. Psalmist David endured many hardships, including betrayal, persecution, and intense grief. Nevertheless, he asserts fearlessly that God is an active supporter and helper in his life rather than merely a remote observer.

The Lord is With Those Who Uphold My Life

When we feel overwhelmed, God pledges to be at our side, ready to offer support and direction. We can call on Him knowing that He hears our cries when we are feeling doubtful or hopeless. Think back to the occasions you recognized that God was with you through your hardships and the times you felt His presence.

The concept of ‘upholding’ our lives highlights the fact that God actively provides for us. There are times in life when we feel like we are carrying too much weight on our own. Giving our anxieties to God brings us comfort because we recognize His role as our helper. What burdens do you bear today? Give them to God and put your faith in His might.

Who is Your Helper?

Take a few quiet moments to consider the ways that God has previously helped you. Write down your ideas in a journal or write a prayer of gratitude for His involvement in your life. Present your burdens to God, whether through reading the Bible or asking other Christians for help. Talk to someone about how God has helped you so they will feel inspired to trust in God always.

Prayer
Thank You, Almighty God, for being my helper and ally. Remind me of Your faithfulness and support when I’m struggling.
