That I May Know Him

Daily Devotional – Sunday, October 28, 2024
“…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.
Philippians 3:10 (NKJV)

The core of the Christian faith is to know Jesus. This craving is passionately expressed by the apostle Paul, who states: “That I may know him.” This yearning is a profound, relational knowing that changes our lives. It goes beyond simple intellectual comprehension.

The Privilege of Knowing Jesus

Knowing God entails inviting Christ into every part of who we are, and letting His influence mold our attitudes, deeds, and interpersonal interactions. We come to understand that knowing Christ entails both the joy of His resurrection and the suffering that comes with following Him.

We can access the amazing power of Christ’s resurrection when we make an effort to know Him. He will empower us to triumph over sin, hopelessness, and dread. Hence, it is important to establish which aspects of your life require Christ’s resurrection power. Moreover, ask God to help you accept the new lease of life He gives.

That I May Know You

Paul also wants to share in Christ’s suffering, which, from a human point of view, is unusual. Incidentally, suffering for Christ, inculcates a Christ-like character in us and strengthens our faith. That way we enjoy being in God’s presence and radiate His light to those around us.

As you pursue the knowledge of Jesus, He will change you daily to become like Him in character. Today, embrace the new person God is creating you to be. May your greatest desire be to know Jesus, and that you may reflect His grace and love in your life.
