Acquire Genuine Treasure

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
Proverbs 16:16 (NKJV)

Gold and silver have a timeless appeal. In the quest for wealth, people have put their lives in danger, destroyed relationships, and destroyed their morals throughout history. However, we can learn a fundamental lesson from Proverbs 16:16: knowledge and wisdom are immensely more valuable than financial wealth.

Wisdom is Better than Gold

The ability to make wise decisions or practical knowledge is what wisdom entails for many people. Biblical wisdom, however, is far more profound. Similar to comprehension, insight is the ability to see the world from God’s point of view.

Despite their value, gold and silver are transient. They may be tarnished, misplaced, or stolen. But wisdom endures forever. It helps us navigate this life and gets us ready for the next. Some issues can be resolved by wealth, but we can traverse life’s intricacies with grace, truth, and insight when we possess wisdom.

Acquire Genuine Treasure

We may pursue peace, love others well, and establish relationships based on compassion and truth when we have insight. Material wealth pales in comparison to these treasures. Real wisdom enables us to live in accordance with God’s will, which brings happiness and contentment that money cannot purchase.

Consider this as you navigate your day: Do you possess the wisdom that will endure forever, or am I chasing after ephemeral treasures? Spend some time reading the Bible and considering how His teachings might direct your life. Additionally, God will graciously grant you wisdom if you ask for it.

Thank You, Lord, for reminding us of life’s real treasures. Help us to place a higher value on insight and knowledge than on material wealth.
