Look at the birds of the air; … Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26 (NIV)
After hours of weeding, I sat down to rest on the soft garden soil. I was exhausted and sweating profusely.
The birds that had earlier been watching from a distance were now busy picking insects from the areas I had weeded.
They kept flying to and from their nests, delivering delicious food to their young ones. Judging by their merry chirping, they must have been celebrating.
When they got tired, the feathery friends decided to swim in a pool of water on the edge of the garden. Unlike me, they were carefree and happy.
Finally, the unapologetic birds perched on nearby tree branches, formed a disjointed choir, and entertained me. How else could they thank me for unearthing worms for them? Really?
In Matthew 6:26, however, Jesus had a different perspective of my experience. “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns…” True. Didn’t I weed while the birds watched?
“…and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” Wait a minute. Was I not the one who gave them food? Not according to Jesus. I was only the God’s agent.
What should I learn from birds, according to their Maker? “Are you not much more valuable than they?” I need not worry. I must trust that God will provide what I need.
I note, however, that the birds did not remain in their nests and wait for God to take worms there. Yes, while God promises to supply my needs, I must work and follow God’s instructions.
Father, I trust you fully and will cooperate with you for my daily needs.
Amen ,the lord always provide for our needs.
100% trust in God and His promises is what we need. Thanks, Brian. God bless you for visiting, reading and commenting.
He provide the daily needs….be blessed
God would have us stop worrying and trust Him for our daily needs, just as birds do.
