I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.”
Luke 15:18 (NKJV)
It did not take long for the prodigal son to realize the emptiness and hopelessness of the big city. After the casinos, bars and brothels had wiped out his last coin, he took the only available job – feeding pigs and eating with them.
How the proud and mighty had fallen! One day, though, he reached the lowest depths of pain, shame and desperation The Holy Spirit pushed him so much that, “he came to himself” (Luke 15:17).
“How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!” (Luke 15:17). If only I can get a daily morsel of food, I will gladly go back home and become a servant (Luke 15:19).
Enough is enough! He told himself, perhaps loudly. “I will arise and go to my father” (Luke 19:18). That was the moment his life changed completely. I will face my father’s wrath. I will accept the punishment he gives me. I will not fear the shame.
Perhaps you need to make a similar decision today. What ungodly habits, relationships or activities do you need to cast off? Is there an area in your life where you need to say, “enough is enough”, and turn back to God?
Like the father of the prodigal son, God is waiting for you with open arms. He will hug you, rejoice over you and throw a party to celebrate you victory over sin. Do you have the courage to say ‘No’ to Satan and ‘Yes’ to God?
Father, I surrender my life fully to you once again. I am tired of running from you.
Help me lord to always turn back to you for anything that patins matter of faith and my life.allow me to come back and give myself wholly to you..am tired of running, pains and fears.
May the Lord hear your prayer, Juster.
Lord my life unto you i give. Help me to understand your ways and to trust in you always.
Amen, Jane. May God hear your prayer. Thank you for reading the devotional and commenting. Please come again tomorrow.
The deadly mistake Christians make is to fall and forget there is still a second chance. God always gives us a second chance. Don’t remain in that situation of tears and regret go back to your father and He will embrace and welcome you back in his Lordship.
Thanks for sharing Mr Maina
Amen, Pastor. You’ve nailed it.
Ilove that particular story ,sometimes we may think that we are so beyond redemption but our Lord never gives up on us
God will go to all lengths to rescue us from sin and destruction. That’s what He demonstrated on Calvary.
