I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
At the core of today’s key text is one of the most profound statements of our faith. Paul describes a profound metamorphosis—a life that is now focused on Christ rather than oneself. We become spiritually one with Jesus when we accept what He did for us on the cross, then allow Him to live in us.
It is No Longer I Who Live
Being “crucified with Christ” is the death of our previous way of living, which depended on our own might, our immoral cravings, and our self-centered goals. We now rely on the One who offered Himself for us and live by faith. This is a daily reality rather than only a belief. We should give Christ complete control over every choice we make, every action we take, and every thought we have so that He might live through us.
Who Lives in You?
We are obligated to submit our will to Christ every day, just as He offered His life for us. This entails letting go of self-centered desires, fear, and pride. We are sustained by his grace. Christ, as Paul reminds us, “loved me and gave Himself for me.” We are inspired to model the life of Jesus because of this intimate affection. Who lives in you?
Prayer
My Saviour and my God, I’m grateful that you gave your life for me. Always remind me to surrender myself to you, that my words, thoughts, and deeds may reflect your will.
