How God’s Faithfulness Empowers Us

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NKJV)

When God calls you, He provides for you, equips you, and completes what He had begun. Our key text serves as a lovely reminder that our calling depends on His faithfulness rather than our own power.

He is Faithful

The apostle Paul provides a litany of directives in the preceding verses: rejoice constantly, pray constantly, express gratitude, cling to what is good, and refrain from evil. One may feel overpowered by these directives and wonder how he or she can fulfill them all.

Thankfully, verse 24 informs us that God Himself will do it through us. In and of ourselves, we cannot live by these high ideals. That is why God never intended that we bear this burden alone. Because He is faithful and He called us, He will empower us to develop godly character.

How God’s Faithfulness Empowers Us

God’s purpose for your life is founded on His promises, not on your flawlessness. When He calls you, He knows your frailties. That’s why He empowers you. You don’t have to feel strong. It is enough to know that God is with you and will fulfill His purpose in your life.

Do you feel unable to carry out the instructions of God in your life? Now that you know that God is with you, empowering and encouraging you, how differently will you live? Are you ready to surrender to God and allow Him to influence your life, to the glory of His name?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am grateful that Your faithfulness is not based on my performance. Because You called me, I will cling to You so that You fulfill Your purpose in my life.
