Enjoy Genuine Freedom

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)

The term ‘freedom’ strikes a deep chord with our innate urge to be free, fearless, and unrestricted. However, we frequently find ourselves exchanging one type of bondage for another in our quest for freedom, whether it is immorality, other people’s acceptance, gambling, and so on.

Christ Has Made Us Free

In today’s key text, Paul reminds us that Christ has freed us, which is the reality for born-again persons. Jesus died and rose to set us free. He has freed us from embarrassment, guilt, and attempting to win God’s love on our own.

However, it is easy to revert to outdated thought patterns. We could begin with grace and then revert to a performance-oriented perspective, just like the Galatians did. Even if we claim to trust Jesus, we secretly still feel that we must “prove” that we are worthy of His love.

Enjoy Genuine Freedom

Paul vividly describes being ruled and restrained when he uses the phrase “yoke of bondage.” The burden is lifted in Christ. Fear, sin, and the law no longer hold us captive. On the basis of love, not law, we are instead called to accept God’s offer of freedom.

Do you still feel as though you are enslaved to fear, to other people’s perceptions, or to previous transgressions? How do you constantly remind yourself that you are totally free, fully accepted, and loved in Jesus? Enjoy true freedom in Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for liberating me. I choose to enjoy this freedom that You bought with Your blood. May my life reflect the blessing of divine freedom.
