A Season of Waiting

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, May 14, 2025
For in You, O LORD, I hope. You will hear, O Lord my God.
Psalms 38:15 (NKJV)

Life does not always go the way we hope. Sometimes, we are weighed down by guilt, pain, or unanswered prayers. That is where David was when he wrote this psalm. He was hurting, tired and feeling the weight of his failures. In the middle of all that, however, he chooses to wait for the Lord and expects the Almighty to answer.

In You I Hope

Although he did not have the answers yet and nothing had changed, David still chose to trust God. Waiting on God does not mean doing nothing. Rather, it means holding on to hope, even when we don’t see the outcome. It is choosing to believe that God hears us, that He cares, and that in His time, He will respond. That kind of faith takes courage, especially when it feels like heaven is silent.

Notice, also, that David does not just wait. He waits on his God. This is personal. He knows who he is talking to: a God who has been faithful before and will be faithful again.

A Season of Waiting

If you are in a season of waiting right now, you are not alone. God sees you. And like David, you can tell God with confidence, “You will answer.” What’s something you’ve been praying about for a long time? How do you usually respond when God feels silent? Can you think of a time when He came through for you, even if it took a while?

Prayer
Almighty God, I don’t always understand what You are doing or why the answers seem so far away, but I choose to trust You. I believe You will come through in Your perfect timing. Increase my faith in my season of waiting.
