For the LORD God is a sun and shield… No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11 (NKJV)
A billionaire asks you to write in his cheque book any amount of money you want. How much would you ask for? Enough to last you till death? Maybe something for relatives and for charity?
Wait a minute. Does such a person even exist?
In Psalm 84:11, the Sons of Korah identify the One with a blank cheque for you to write on. “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”
His name is I AM, the one with no beginning or end. His immense power and protective nature over His children is likened to the sun and to a shield. The Lord covers His people with unmerited favor or grace. He crowns their life with His glory.
It gets more interesting. “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Here is the blank cheque. What do you desire? Just mention it.
What are the conditions for the fulfilment of this promise? One: obedience to God is mandatory. Two: you must ask for ‘good things’.
Like the good Parent He is, God will not give you that which will harm you. He knows exactly what you need. If he rejects the amount you write on the check, what you are asking for is not good for you.
Whatever you want today, you can have it. Submit yourself to God so that your will is aligned to His, then claim this promise.
Father, thank you because you will not withhold from me that which is good for me.
Psalms 34:10 says, a calf of a lion can lack something to eat but those that wait from the Lord will lack nothing good. I thank God your daily encouragements and challenge Mr Maina. God bless
