Plans are established by seeking advice; so if you wage war, obtain guidance.
Proverbs 20:18 (NIV)
It is common practice for national leaders to hire special advisors for a variety of issues. Since the president is not an expert in everything, he taps into the wisdom of respective experts. This way, his plans have a high chance of success.
Individuals seeking political office also engage advisors on a raft of issues. Organizations, too, engage the services of persons with immense expertise and experience.
In business, seeking the advice of knowledgeable people before investing your money is very important. Before getting married, undergoing counseling and talking to those in stable relationships may save you much pain in future.
The bottom line: “Plans are established by seeking advice…” Proverbs 20:18. Your thinking and implementation capacities are limited. You need the input of other people when you are planning.
The verse continues, “…so if you wage war, obtain guidance.” A good leader cannot venture into the battlefield without sound guidance from his generals. Experts must be brought on board to enable thorough planning, hence success.
You may not be fighting a physical battle but you face tough challenges every day. You need guidance on many issues in your life. You need loyal friends, relatives and fellow believers to talk with for guidance. You cannot rely on your wisdom alone when planning.
Do you want your plans to succeed? Meditate on the word of God. Pray without ceasing. Consult committed men and women of God.
More importantly, seek God’s advice. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Don’t proceed with your plans before you consult God.
Father, give me knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
Guidance is all we need. Keep it up elder.
Thank you, Joseph. God bless you.
Tee inputs as raw material for success…. Thank you
