What is that in Your Hand?

Daily Devotional: Monday, May 31, 2021

So the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?”

 Exodus 4:2 (NKJV)

Unemployment is a serious problem all over the globe. Developing countries bear the heaviest unemployment burden. As a result, there is an increase in crime, social evils and general hopelessness.

Many claim they lack resources, work experience or capital to start businesses. There is no shortage of reasons and excuses for unemployment.

We cannot deny that there are inbuilt causes of unemployment in our societies. Governments and private organizations must remove or reduce obstacles to unemployment for citizens.

That said, God’s message to a fearful Moses would be of great importance to anyone searching for employment. “So the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” (Exodus 4:2).

Right there in Moses’ hand was the miracle he needed to convince the Israelites to listen to and follow God. He was holding his miracle, yet he was not aware of it.

The same could be true of you. Start farming on that small, idle piece of land near you. The business you are thinking about could be God’s tool in your possession.

Volunteer in an organization to gain work experience. Take the available job, even if that is not what you studied in college. Talk to the people around you. This may open up a job opportunity or give you capital for a business.

Your talents and abilities could hold the key to your prosperity. Stop idolizing others and thinking they are more favoured than you. Do not despise small beginnings. Start where you are. Start with what you have.

Father, help me identify and use the opportunities for growth you have placed within and around me.

Elder ,this is powerful, the mere thought of knowing i might be holding my miracle in my hands and i am not aware of it is terrifying ,,may our eyes be opened to see the miracles we are holding in our hands.

Martin

Amen Bro. We need to be faithful stewards. Nothing is small when put on God’s hand.

Erastus Theuri

Often, we reach out for what we lack while ignoring what we have, which may be God’s tool for taking us to the next level. Thank you for sharing.
