Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 (NKJV)
There is a thief amongst us. He does not spare anybody’s property. This robber fears no one. Many have lost their valuables to him. Perhaps you are a victim but you are not aware of it.
This unarmed robber is worry. Worry steals your joy today by convincing you to borrow tomorrow’s anticipated problems. Worry is being anxious and troubled about problems that have not occurred or may not happen altogether.
Your Creator had this to say about worry, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34).
According to Jesus, you must learn to live one day at a time. Every day has its own share of troubles. Yesterday came with its own and disappeared. Tomorrow is on the way with its share. Concentrate on today’s labours.
Worry is a worthless activity. If you cannot change the troubles you think are coming your way, how will worrying help you? Why develop health problems because of issues beyond your control?
On the other hand, if you can change your negative situation, why worry about it? Stop worrying and complaining. Start changing that situation.
Whichever way, worry is a worthless exercise. Charles Spurgeon once said, “Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength”
Instead of wasting your time in fear, make David’s commitment to God your own, and say, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalms 56:3
Father, I have seen the futility of my worry. I choose to trust fully in You.
