And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:3 (ESV)
I read the sad story of a woman who lost her baby as soon as she gave birth. Another cruel woman disguised herself as a nurse and stole the baby. The new mother was devastated.
I thought about this mother and her husband. I visualized their preparations to receive their bundle of joy. There was a special room, decorated with favourite colours. I see a baby cot and special clothing.
Relatives were aware the baby was coming home. The guests were ready. The party was set.
Unfortunately, it did not take place. The most important person was missing. Without the baby, all the preparations were meaningless.
Now, let us focus on another party in which you feature prominently. Jesus says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:3).
Christ is busy preparing for your homecoming party. He says, “In my Father’s house are many rooms” (John 14:2). You have a special room in heaven. At the right time, the party will begin.
However, if you do not come home, these preparations will be pointless. Jesus will be very sad because He came to earth to redeem and take you home.
Heaven is waiting. Are you ready? By the grace of God, strive to make it to your special room in heaven. It will not be long before Christ comes to take you home.
Lord Jesus, please help me to be ready for my great homecoming party.
When one is informed that they are important guests in a ceremony they make the necessary preparations that match that particular ceremony. Let’s be informed that we’re the important guests in the heaven’s biggest ceremony, and this thought alone is enough to make us always ready for Christ’s ceremony
Amen, Hans. I love your insights on this topic. God bless you. Keep reading and commenting on these devotionals.
