Be fruitful…
Genesis 1:28 (NKJV)
After God had blessed the newly-created Adam and Eve, He commanded them, “Be fruitful and multiply.” (Genesis 1:28). God was telling Adam and Eve to procreate and increase in number, but this command has other meanings.
A fruit contains the seeds that ensure the species does not become extinct. Fruits offer free nutrients to other creatures. Man and beasts also find shelter and establish dwellings under fruit trees. A tree that produces fruit is a blessing to itself and the rest of creation.
In the Bible, we find several instances when God uses the concepts of fruit and fruition to warn and teach.
In Mark 11:12–14, Jesus cursed a leafy fig tree that had no fruits. Here we learn that as long as God nourishes us, He expects to see positive outcomes in our lives. God is like an investor seeking his ROI (return on investment).
In Galatians 5:22–23, Paul says, “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” When God fills us with His Holy Spirit, He expects positive character transformation.
Being fruitful means that you are utilizing your God-given abilities and talents maximally. It implies that those who live and interact with you can testify that you are a blessing to them in word and in deed.
A fruitful person is like a refuge that people can run to for encouragement and support in times of need. A fruitful parent strives to bring up offspring that will perpetuate justice and fairness across generations.
Is there an area of your life in which you need to start being fruitful? Ask God for His Holy Spirit and divine wisdom.
Father, make me fruitful in all aspects of my life.
God commands us to be fruitful. How can we obey this command? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
A fruitful person, tree, animal……. is embraced by all. If you see your not fruitful just know the next thing is to be thrown into fire.
Let’s each strive to be fruitful.
Yes, Pr. There are consequences of being unfruitful. Be blessed.
