Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
Psalms 100:4 (NKJV)
My friend’s sister-in-law had had several miscarriages. She would conceive but she would not experience the joy of holding the baby in her hands.
My friend decided to put God to test. He claimed God’s promise in Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
According to this verse, believers have the right to thank God for answered prayer even if their requests have not materialized. Consequently, after telling God what you want, you should proceed and thank Him for answering your prayers.
My friend decided to hold God accountable for this promise. When he found out his sister-in-law had conceived, he gave a thank offering to thank God in advance for the child to be born.
God accepted the challenge. He answered my friend’s prayer as requested. The sister-in-law gave birth to a healthy child. Such was my friend’s joy that He did the same a second time. Your guess is as good as mine. Another healthy baby came into the world.
David understood the critical role of thanksgiving in prayer when he wrote, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Psalms 100:4).
The best attitude when you approach God in prayer is thanksgiving. When you truly believe in God, you will thank Him for answering your prayers even if you have not seen the actual results. That is what it means to have faith in God.
Lord Jesus, thank you for answering my prayers.

Thanksgiving is one of the most important, most creative capacities of the human mind. As we practice it diligently and constantly we develop a deep joy in living, even though life is filled with all manner of suffering and difficulties. An individual who learns to practice Thanksgiving activates within himself and around himself a continuous victories and blessings from God.
