See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.
Isaiah 49:16 (NKJV)
I have many friends but today I will celebrate two.
The first is a young man who dropped out of university due to financial challenges. He ventured into different types of unskilled employment and community service. He did not give up his dream. He is graduating this year, after God performed a financial miracle and the university fees balance was paid.
The second is a young woman whose working life has been plagued by misfortune. While she is hardworking, she has had to quit jobs severally following harassment by her supervisors and other forms of injustice. Recently, though, another organization interviewed her for a senior position in another organization. She got the job.
It Was Easier to Give Up
After many years of suffering and not getting any tangible answers to prayers from God, the easiest option for my friends was to give up and pursue other interests, including ungodly ones. On the contrary, they continued praying and serving God in various capacities.
Their experiences remind me of God assurance through Prophet Isaiah. “Can a woman forget her nursing child and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.” (Isaiah 49:15). I am encouraged that God never forgets His children, even when it seems like He has abandoned them.
Wrestling With God In Prayer
I, too, have requests that have been on God’s in-tray for quite some time. I often wrestle with God in prayer demanding for answers. All I get is deafening silence. That is why the miracles in my friends’ lives have given me hope. I know God has not forgotten me. In His own time, He will answer my prayers.
There is another reason for me to be hopeful. God says, “See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” (Isaiah 49:16). What beautiful imagery! God does not just write my name of the palm of His hands. He engraves it. Every time He looks at His hands, God remembers me.
Calvary: Where The Palms of Jesus Were Scarred
Is that not what happened when they pierced His palms on the cross of Calvary? When Christ looks at the scars on His palms, he remembers my plight. He comforts me as I wait for Him to answer my prayers. Jesus remembers to fill me with the Holy Spirit and to guide me on my way to heaven.
Are you feeling lonely, abandoned and forgotten because God has not yet answered you? Do you want to give up on your dreams or the journey to heaven? Don’t even dare! God has not forgotten you. Your name is on His scarred palms. Wait, I say, for God. In His own time, the perfect time, He will fulfill your desires.
Lord Jesus, thank You for engraving my name on the palms of Your hands. Because You remember me always, help me never to forget You.
Thank you for this.It has given me hope . I will keep trusting Him .Even when He is silence, He is still working.
Indeed, Mary, you can trust Jesus 100%
