Why I Crave God’s Perfect Peace

Daily Devotional – Monday, February 7, 2022

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)

The enemies of Jesus burned Nicholas Ridley on the stake in the year 1555. On the eve of his martyrdom, his brothers visited him in his cell and proposed to sit through the night with him for comfort.

The soon-to-be martyr refused. “Tonight I want to rest peacefully and have the best night ever.” He said. Nicholas did not fear death because He had the peace of God in him. In his walk with God, this saint had learned to trust fully in Jehovah.

You Will Keep Him in Perfect Peace

Nicholas must have read and internalized God’s promise in Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” From a human perspective, we cannot explain how Nicholas could sleep soundly knowing he was to die the following day.

I need this peace in my life because, often, I find myself behind schedule in my plans and projects. When panic engulfs me and I feel like all is lost, I want to know that the God I trust in is in control.

Perfect Peace: Anywhere, Any Time

In moments when I wrestle with God because of gray areas in my life, I would do with godly tranquility. When I have presented my requests to God and He does not answer within my preferred timelines, I want the assurance that God is working on my requests.

I crave this perfect peace when I am battling illnesses in my family or community. When I have many unanswered questions on why good people suffer and the wicked appear to prosper, only God can give me peace beyond comprehension.

Do You Crave God’s Perfect Peace?

Divine peace comes in handy when people misunderstand me despite my genuine intentions to help. When the environment around me is hostile and I find myself alone, nothing works like perfect godly peace.

Do you crave God’s perfect peace in your life today? Focus your mind on God. Make you requests known to God today. Trust fully in Him and He will fill your heart with perfect peace.

Almighty God, I trust fully in your goodness and providence. Fill my mind with Your perfect peace.

Amen.. indeed if we keep our minds focused and trusting in God we can count on experiencing His perfect peace. Peace that the world cannot give, like He said, “my peace I leave with you, not as the world gives” and this we only get if we receive Him and trust in Him for he himself is our peace. Ephesians 2:14
