The Only Guaranteed Formula for Progress

When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.

Joshua 3:3 (NKJV)

It is forty years since the Israelites left Egypt. All the adults that had miraculously crossed the Red Sea are dead, except Caleb and Joshua. A new generation is about to enter the Promised Land and God has a critical lesson to deliver.

During the Red Sea crossing, Moses had stretched out his hand to create a highway in the sea for the fleeing, terrified former slaves. In the current situation, though, there is time for meticulous planning. This creates room for God to present His object lesson.

Then You Shall Set Out From Your Place and Go After It

The pre-crossing instructions are clear:

“When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.” (Joshua 3:3).

The Ark of the Covenant, carried by the priests, will lead the way. Only then will the Israelites follow. They are not to go before it. God commits to lead them into Canaan but their victory will only come if they make Him first in their lives.

The Only Guaranteed Formula for Progress

In verse 13, we learn that when the feet of the priests bearing the ark were firmly in the waters of the Jordan, the river stopped flowing thus creating a path for the people to cross. Later, after everyone had crossed, the priests came out of the river and it flowed as usual.

What a powerful lessons of the miracles and blessings that will be ours if we give God priority in our lives! When we commit every plan, project and activity to God, and seek His wisdom and approval, we will successful cross our Jordans and reach our destinies.

Moving Only When God Commands

The only guaranteed formula for success in any sphere of life if to prioritize God and never proceed until He tells you to move.

Dear Jesus, help me to give You priority in my life and to walk behind You all the time. May I never embark on a journey or project that You have not approved.
