What Is Man That You Are Mindful Of Him?

Daily Devotional – Monday, March 21, 2022

What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?

Psalms 8:4 (NKJV)

God’s love for humanity knows no bounds. This is evident from the Garden of Eden. God loved living and communing with Adam and Eve.

Sin changed except God’s unconditional love. He made the disobedient pair clothes from animal skins. He also promised them that their Seed of the woman would one day destroy Satan.

The Lord God: Merciful, Gracious and Longsuffering

God did not abandon the human race because He is “merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.” (Exodus 34:6-7).

God forgave the rebellious Israelites in the wilderness. His love was evident in way He dealt with sinners like David, Solomon and Samson.

The Best Demonstration of Unconditional Love

The best demonstration of God’s everlasting love, however, was in sending Immanuel to live among human beings. If there was any doubt that God loved His rebellious people, the life and death of Christ obliterated it.

The climax is yet to come. Soon, Jesus will return in glory to take His faithful home. That will be the greatest celebration ever witnessed. Once again, God will live with His children. Who else can love His rebellious children as God loves us?

What Is Man That You Are Mindful Of Him?

With that in mind, David’s meditation should be ours, too.

What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet
. (Psalms 8:4-6).

How will you respond to such unfathomable and unconditional love?

Prayer

Dear God, I amazed, happy and thankful that You love me and regard me so highly, despite my weaknesses.
