A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
Proverbs 15:23 (NKJV)
Working with young people is challenging, especially when I have to give customized advice. A youth trusts me enough to share his struggles. He believes I have the right answer to return his life to a positive trajectory.
In many cases, I will not have had enough time to prepare yet I know my counsel will determine the decision the youth will take. If the decision is good, I will share the joy. A bad choice on the other hand means I will share the blame.
Speak a Word in Season to Him Who is Weary
That is when I make the prophetic words of Jesus my own. “The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.” Isaiah 50:4 (NKJV)
Every day, I meet with people who need encouragement. My words mean the world to them. I fear I will disappoint them. That is why I keep asking God for knowledge, understanding, wisdom and just the right words to use.
A Word Spoken in Due Season: How Good It Is!
I have seen the positive impact and saving power of a word spoken in season to a needy soul. Like Solomon, I can exclaim, “A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” (Proverbs 15:23).
Today, ask God to give you a word in season to speak to a person who really needs to know God is with him or her in their toughest moment.
Prayer
Lord Jesus give me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.
