You will show me the path of life. In Your presence is fullness of joy. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)
When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost one of the most important privileges – having unfettered access to God. They had been living in the presence of God both physically and spiritually.
Soon after, Adam experienced some of the consequences of sin. Cain killed Abel, “…went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.” (Genesis 4:16).
In Your Presence is Fullness of Joy
Like Adam and Cain, we leave the presence of God when we go against His will. God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29) hence no sinner can exist in his presence, unless covered by the righteousness of Jesus.
When we allow God to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, we enter the presence of God. Like David, we can confess, “You will show me the path of life. In Your presence is fullness of joy. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11).
The Privilege of Rejoicing in God’s Presence Now
Soon, Jesus will return and the righteous will live in His presence forever. However, we can enjoy His presence right now. There is indescribable joy in individual and congregational worship. Immanuel still speaks to use inside the pages of the Bible and through sincere prayer.
What practical steps will you take today to enjoy the fullness of joy that is only available in the presence of God? How can you share this joy with other people, especially Non-Christians?
Prayer
Father, show me the path of life and let me rejoice in Your presence.
Indeed Spending time in the Lord’s Presence is a privilege God desires to Bless us with. By doing so we are able to better understand God’s will for our life as He shows us the path of life, what a delightful privilege!
Amen, Doc. In God’s presence – that is where all of us should aspire to be.
