Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!
Psalm 150:6 (NKJV)
In some countries, political campaigns are hero worship ceremonies. People compose songs to praise their leaders. In every meeting that the politician attends, his praises must be sung. Followers dance themselves lame to please their human idol.
Speakers recounts the ‘great’ achievements and superior qualities of the leader. Followers proudly wear t-shirts and caps branded with the name and slogan of the politician.
Praise for Humans vs. Praise for God
They can also insult, maim and kill rivals in the name of their preferred candidate. Some inundate social media with invectives and hate. This they do to please a fellow human being.
In contrast, how do we treat our Creator, Provider and Sustainer? We go to sleep and wake up in the morning yet we forget to glorify God for that miracle. He heals our diseases, forgives our sins, gives us comfortable lives but we worship human idols.
We forget the LORD is a jealous God (Genesis 20:5) and we should not give His praise to idols (Isaiah 42:8).
Let Everything that has Breath Praise the Lord
Can we compose and /or sing praise tunes for God as we do for politicians? Is it possible to openly declare our allegiance and love for Jesus the same way political sycophants do for their leaders? Should God compete for our attention, gratitude and praise with mere mortals?
To understand why and how to praise God, we should read the book of Psalm more. Its last verse is emphatics, “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!” (Psalm 150:6).
Prayer
Almighty God, Praise be unto You now and forever.
Praise the Lord …praise lord…wonderful message…be blessed
Amen, Duke. Indeed, God deserves praise and honour.
