So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan … and he was clean.
2 Kings 5:14 (NKJV)
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a miracle is, “an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs.” We expect a miracle to be an instantaneous, not a process.
Jesus performed miracles like healing the paralytic, turning water into wine and calming the stormy sea. Old Testament miracles include parting of the Red Sea, the Provision of Manna and water gushing from a rock.
He Will Wave His Hand and Heal the Leprosy
Scripture reveals, however, that God often takes us through a sequence of events that constitute miracles. For example, when Prophet Elisha told Naaman to go wash seven times in River Jordan, the latter became furious and went away.
Naaman though Elisha would “… come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.” (2 Kings 5:11-12).
When we are in dire situations like Naaman, we demand immediate action from God. We expect money, jobs, healing and other miracles immediately. If God delays, we get angry, complain and even give up on Him.
Cooperating with God for Our Miracles
We must realize, though, that instead of giving you food, God may provide land and rain. To get the lucrative job you desire, you have to start in a lower position. Instead of healing you instantaneously, God will use doctors and medicine.
Your work is to cooperate with God for your miracles. Every plunge you take into the Jordan brings you closer to God’s ultimate plan for you. Your miracle may take days, months or years but it is a miracle nevertheless.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, give me patience and faith to cooperate with You for my miracles.
