“My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
When my back pain persisted, I cancelled my preaching engagements because I could not stand for long periods. Despite my protestations, though, I found myself on the pulpit on several occasions because some speakers did not honour their invitations.
Incidentally, while preaching, my pain would disappear. However, immediately after leaving the pulpit, I would experience severe pain. In these trying moment, I wondered why God allowed me to suffer while serving Him.
My Strength is Made Perfect in Weakness
Like the apostle Paul, I asked God to take away the thorn in my flesh. Over several months of pain God gave me the same answer as Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
The devil must have rejoiced when I stopped preaching because of my poor health. However, Jesus gave me the strength to preach the gospel while unwell. Jesus used my weakness to reveal His strength.
Incidentally, even when my pain was too much to bear, God inspired and helped me to write a devotional every day. His grace was sufficient for me.
Preaching Through Pain
Preaching through pain taught me that my weakness is an opportunity for God to reveal His power through me. As I recuperate, I don’t decline preaching invitations. Jesus heals me gradually as I continue to minister to His people.
What tough situation are you facing today? Ask God to use your weakness to reveal His strength. Tap into His abundant and sustaining grace and allow His will to be done through your experience.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, use my trials and weaknesses to mature my faith to the glory of Your Name.
A very encouraging and inspiring messag. Thank you Elder
Glad to know the message blessed you, Joseph.
