Hold Fast the Confession of Your Hope Without Wavering

Daily Devotional – Thursday, July 7, 2022
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV)

“If God loves me as He says, why does He allow me to suffer?” An anguished soul asks. The evil one takes advantage and creates doubts about God’s love and His sense of justice and fairness. The believer wavers and loses hope.

A young believer leaves the comfort of family and church. She starts associating with persons of questionable moralities. Soon, the allure or sin and worldly pleasure overwhelms her profession of faith.

Let us Hold Fast the Confession of Our Hope without Wavering

A committed Christians skips church once. The next month, he misses twice. By the end of the year, he has skipped more church services than the ones he has attended. Though he has not stopped believing in God, he does not consider himself an active Christian.

The writer of Hebrews wrote to believers who faced trails because of their faith. Many may have questioned the Christian faith. Probably, some became apathetic, not sure how to react to their situations.

To them and to those of us in similar situations, the writer urges, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23).

Looking for the Blessed Hope

At baptism, we confess the hope of eternal life with joy. However, as temptations, the cares of this life, and pleasure traps assail us, it is possible to waver and lose the hope of salvation.

Our safety is in reaching out to the outstretched hand of our faithful God. God does not lie. We can trust His promises. We remain faithful because we are, “looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13).

Prayer
Dear God, increase my faith that my hope of eternal life and your second coming may not waiver.
