Through wisdom, a house is built, and by understanding, it is established. By knowledge, the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Proverbs 24:3-4 (NKJV)
here are many types of building materials. The simplest houses are made of mud and sticks. Other materials include wood, iron sheets, steel, stones, concrete and glass. One chooses the best and most durable materials when building houses.
Through Wisdom a House is Built
The same meticulousness goes into furnishing the house. . A lot of money and effort go into equipping a house. The building materials and general outlook of a building are indicators of the type and value of furniture in the house
King Solomon used the analogy of building and furnishing a house to explain how to build and manage a godly family. He says, “Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.” (Proverbs 24:3).
Unlike a brick and mortar house, a family is built using wisdom and understanding. The spouses take time to think through their words and actions. They are emotionally intelligent. They rely fully on God and act according to His will.
By Knowledge the Rooms Are Filled
How about furniture? Solomon adds, “By knowledge the rooms are filled. With all precious and pleasant riches.” (Proverbs 24:4). The greatest wealth of a home is not material possessions. It is godly knowledge and wisdom. Our homes must be characterized by a persistent and practical search for God.
In essence, just as we use the best materials to build and furnish physical houses, we must tap into divine knowledge, discernment and wisdom in building our families. Only a close walk with God and adherence to Biblical teachings can breed such a family.
Prayer
