I Will Rejoice Trouble Notwithstanding

Daily Devotional – Thursday, September 29, 2022
Though the fig tree may not blossom….Yet, I will rejoice in the LORD.
Habakkuk 3:17–18 (NKJV)

When our lives are on the upward path and everything proceeds as planned, we tend to praise God more than usual. Our hearts are full of joy and gratitude when we are healthy, happy, and prospering with our loved ones. .

However, when troubles assail us, our prayers have little, if any, praise for God. What is there to celebrate when we are ailing, our families are broken, our loved ones are dead, and hope seems to dissipate like a mist?

I Will Rejoice In the LORD

Yet, the Bible teaches that even in the worst of situations, we worship and praise God. Prophet Habakkuk went through a similar situation and affirmed:
Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation
. (Habakkuk 3:17-18)

Rejoicing, Notwithstanding Devastation

Habakkuk’s will praise God despite total crop failure and devastation of livestock. Nothing will stop him from rejoicing and praising God – the only One Who has power to turn around the negative situation.

God often allows difficulties in our lives either because of sin (individual and societal) or for purposes of trying and refining our faith. Such an attitude will lead us to rejoice and praise God even in the darkest moments.

With Habakkuk, we can affirm that even when God appears to hide His face from us, we will praise and worship Him. When we appreciate the unchanging goodness of God, we will rejoice always and give thanks in all circumstances. (Philippians 4:4 & 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Prayer
Almighty Father, though there are numerous challenges around me, I will rejoice in You.

Amen..we should rejoice in the lord, for He is good all the time, in bad and good. He’ll make a way, where there seems to be no way, turns circumstances around.
Rejoice in the lord,i say again rejoice.

Sometimes like the old prophet Habakuk we might experience seasons of trials which may seem endless,we might be desperate for relief,for change,for God to intervene.
The weight of Worlds problems may be too much, grief, depression, poverty,. hopelessness.
But we are called not to despair but live a life of faith, a life of reliance on God. In the power and sufficiency of the omnipotence.
