Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
Luke 11:1 (NKJV)
In Christ’s school of prayer, prayer is both a science and an art. It is a science because it has a formula and a procedure. As an art, it requires practice to master. More importantly, Jesus listens to our prayers.
God Hears Our Petitions
A man way praying but got stuck towards the end. He started mumbling, unable to find the right formula for ending his petition. Finally, someone said “Amen” and the supplication ended in laughter. Did God hear the man’s prayer? Yes, He did.
A student offered a passionate prayer in school. She ended every sentence with the phrase, “O dear Master”. When she finished praying, a group of mischievous boys exclaimed, “O dear Master” instead of “Amen”. Did God hear her prayer? Yes, He did.
God’s Ears are Always Open
A little boy prays for food when asked to intervene on behalf of his sick friend. A girl stalls on her prayers, keeps quiet and waits for adults to conclude the prayer is over and open their eyes. Does God hear these little ones? Yes, He does.
The disciples had watched Jesus praying on many occasions. They admired His confidence and composure as He communed with His Father. These grown men, who had learned to pray at home and in the synagogues, begged Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray…” (Luke 11:1).
God is Attentive
If you think you are not as good in prayer as other people are, you are not alone. Like the disciples, you may not know how to sew together a beautiful collection of pious words and phrases, yet God is attentive to your prayer.
Our Father reads the hidden desires of the heart. He knows what we want before we ask. He who taught the disciples how to pray will gradually teach you how to organize your thoughts and to present your petitions to Him.
God Listens to Your Prayers
Instead of worrying about how to pray and what to ask God for, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Prayer is the language of the mind as it communes with its Maker. Whether you mumble, stammer or lack words, God listens to your prayers.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You because You listen to my prayers. Continue teaching me how to pray.

In Romans the scripture says , In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through groanings that cannot be understood. Romans 8:26.
Amen. Doc
God is a silent guest during our prayers
