… those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.
John 6:37 (NLT)
One of the most significant statements Jesus made was, “…those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.” (John 6:37). Today, I reflected on this encouraging promise in the light of two Valentine’s Day events.
I Will Not Cast You Out
In the first one, a female politician had the most romantic day of her life yesterday when her boyfriend proposed marriage. The lucky man knelt on one knee and asked the lady, “Will you marry me?”
The woman obliged. The onlookers burst into chants and songs. As the man and his fiancée embraced in the red rose-themed hall, you could tell the man was happy and relieved because the woman had not rejected the proposal.
Rejected in Broad Daylight
On the same day, another man’s attempt to convince his long-term girlfriend to marry him went terribly wrong. Armed with flowers and a ring, the lad knelt on one near in a busy street and uttered the magic words, “Will you marry me?”
There was an awkward silence. Passersby started urging the woman to say, “Yes”. The man did not mind the pain of the hard pavement he was kneeling on. Suddenly, the girl started shouting obscenities at the man. Then she took the roses and slapped the man with them. As she left the scene, the man took after her, but she kept rejecting him.
I Will Not Throw You Out
What a contrast of incidences! One man went home happy. The other one probably never went home that day. It feels good to be accepted. Rejection is painful. In contrast, you do not have to guess you fate when dealing with Jesus.
When Christ says He will not reject you, He means it. He wants you to come to Him with your filthy past. Jesus does not mind your tainted reputation. He knows you are ashamed of your past mistakes. The Lord bids you come to Him as You are and He will create you anew.
I Will Never Reject You
People may reject you as some so-called lovers do. People may dismiss you because you do not fit in their academic, social, economic, political or linguistic circles. Only one Person has promised He will never reject you. Rededicate your life to Jesus today and enjoy unconditional divine love.
Prayer
Thank You, Jesus, because You will never reject me. Today, I come back to You dressed in filthy rags. Clothe me with Your garment of righteousness.
