Therefore, He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:25 (NKJV)
Whenever I am going through trials or I am about to make an important decision, I gain courage in knowing that somebody is praying for me. I developed this attitude from infancy because I experienced the blessing of hearing my mother pray for me loudly. To know that someone cares for me deeply to intercede for me is inspiring.
I Have Prayed For You
Consider the experience of Simon Peter. On the night this loyal disciple denied his Master thrice, he found comfort in Christ’s earlier assurance: “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” (Luke 22:31-32).
How comforting to know that Jesus had foreseen Peter’s coming trial and had prayed for his disciples to repent and continue with the journey of faith! It is one thing to know your parent, siblings, spouse, neighbour and friends are praying for you. However, to realize that Jesus us interceding for you is incredible and reassuring.
He Always Lives to Make Intercession for Them
How lucky Peter must have been! Your marvel. Well, the privilege of having Jesus as an intercessor does not belong to Peter only. It is yours, too. Listen to Apostle Paul: “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:25).
Paul is referring to Jesus, our High Priest in the temple in heaven. He sympathizes with our weaknesses and pleads on our behalf. Because He has borne the human body and its frailties before, He offers prayers on our behalf that we may not veer away from the way of salvation. “For He knows our frame. He remembers that we are dust.” (Psalms 103:14).
Somebody is Praying for You
How reassuring is it know that when you are at home, work, school, market, church and anywhere else that Jesus is praying for you? Is it not encouraging to know that He understands the spiritual, professional, financial, health, familial, marital and relationship challenges you are facing right now and He is praying for you to overcome?
Today, go about your life confidently. Take courage in knowing Jesus is interceding for you. Even if no other person prays for you, Your Creator, Owner and Redeemer never keeps His eye off you. Whatever life throws at you today, remember Somebody is praying for you. Jesus is praying for you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, because You are praying from me, I will face life with courage and confidence.
