Pour Your Heart to God

Daily Devotional – Monday, March 27, 2023
Trust in Him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.
Psalms 62:8 (NKJV)

A popular saying goes, “A problem shared is a problem is halfway solved.” Hence, a common strategy of dealing with stress is to find a friend you can trust and empty your heart to him or her. An even more effective approach is to pour out your heart to God.

Get it off Your Chest

We all love to be listened to, especially in moments of trials and griefs or when we are accused falsely. When we find that friend we trust most, we lay bare our travails knowing this ally will not judge us and will keep our secrets.

Human being, however, can be deceitful and treacherous. That is why some people keep their sorrows to themselves. They suffer in silence because they fear to unburden their souls and later suffer more humiliation from leakage of confidential information.

Tell God all Your Troubles

In Psalms 62, David is in trouble. His enemies are keen to destroy him. He realizes his hope is only in God. From his experience of finding refuge in God, the psalmist urges other believers, “Trust in Him (God) at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us.” (Psalms 62:8).

The God of David is your God too. He is your refuge from all the troubles life brings your way. When those you confide prove untrustworthy, remember you have a faithful Father, waiting to listen to your cries and sorrows.

Pour Our Your Heart to God

God will not judge you. He will allow you to vent your anxieties in His presence. The LORD loves it when His children trust Him enough to share their cares, griefs and desires with Him. Unlike our human friends, God offers lasting and effective solutions to our troubles.

What challenges are you dealing with today? Do you need someone to tell your story to, in full confidence? David further counsels, “Cast your burden on the LORD and He shall sustain you. He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psalms 55:22). Pour out your heart to God today and experience peace that surpasses understanding.

Prayer
Dear God, because You are a listening, loving and caring Father, I will pour out my heart to You today.
