Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)
Have you ever returned from a long journey and someone offered to carry your luggage? If so, you must have felt relieved because a heavy burden had left your shoulder. It feels good to cast your burdens on someone or something.
Unburdening Yourself
The same is true of emotional and psychological burden. When you are weighed down with pain and your heart is aching, unburdening yourself to a person you trust can be therapeutic. The friend listens as you pour out your pain and you feel relieved because a problem shared is half-solved.
Parents, guardians, siblings, friends, counselor and religious leaders may offer a shoulder to cry upon but may not be perfect burden bearers. Some may share your secrets with strangers. Others may judge you for your mistake.
Jesus Cares for You
That is why you need to develop a personal relationship with the only friend who can stick closer than a brother. Apostle Peter spent time with this Special Friend (Jesus) and advised believers to cast, “all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7).
Here is Jesus’ mission, in His own words:
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” (Luke 4:18-19).
Cast Your Cares on Jesus
The same Jesus that healed the sick, fed the hungry, and exorcised demons from the possessed invites you to cast you material cares on Him today. He who died on the cross for you is ready to take your burden of sin and give you real rest. Will you cast your cares on Jesus today?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I cast my cares on You today because I know You care about me.
Amen
Your are welcome, Martin. Be blessed.
