He leads me …
Psalms 23:2 (NKJV)
I love Psalms 23. It is reassuring to know that God is my Shepherd. My interaction with Him is intimate and personal. For me to live productively and to survive the perils of the world, I must trust my Shepherd fully. I am even more thrilled to know He leads me.
Following the Lord
The LORD’s leadership is critical for me. When I look critically at myself, I am the proverbial sheep. I know very little and my decisions are likely to be erratic. As the wisest man who ever lived observed, “There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12).
Every day, I have to make tough decisions that have temporal and internal implications. Because I want to please God in everything I do, my prayer resonates with this promise, “Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.” (Psalms 25:12). How wonderful to know God will lead me!
I Will Teach You the Way You Should God
Then there are those decisions that affect other people. It is both exciting and scaring to know that my choices will influence others positively or negatively. That is why I do not want to take chances. I trust in the God who says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalms 32:8).
I want the LORD to lead me because Satan places traps on my path. God is like a bomb expert leading me through an area with landmines. He knows how to avoid the deadly traps. Only by following Him will I escape the devious traps of the devil.
He Leads Me
When I consider everything I have to face today, and in the coming days, I am happy to know He leads me. I will submit to the God who states, “For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’” (Isaiah 41:13).
With the opportunities and uncertainties that lie ahead of us today, let us surrender to the God who leads His sheep to still waters and in paths of righteousness. Let us not walk alone. Let us allow the Lord to lead us as we follow closely behind.
Prayer
Dear Shepherd, as Your trusting sheep, we submit to You today because we know You lead us to the right people, places, ideas and opportunities.
