Daily Devotional – Tuesday, September 30, 2025
This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Titus 3:8 (NIV)
It is a misconception to think someone can follow Christ yet continue living like the world. Sadly, modern Christianity often leans toward words without actions, forgetting that real faith is meant to bear fruit. Jesus made it clear that His disciples would be recognized not by lip service but by visible acts of love and kindness.
Sermons Without Words
Paul echoed this truth when he reminded Titus that believers must be careful to maintain good works. He told him to repeat this teaching often because it is central to Christian living. Good works aren’t optional extras but evidence of a transformed life. They reveal the inward work of the Holy Spirit in outward, practical ways.
Imagine a tree that claims to be an orange tree but produces no oranges year after year. Would anyone believe it is truly what it says it is? In the same way, a Christian who never demonstrates kindness or compassion leaves the world unconvinced.
The Christian Difference
When we consistently do good, for example, feeding the hungry, comforting the hurting, and lending a hand to the struggling, we make God’s love tangible. Our generosity becomes a sermon people can see, not just hear. Often, it is not our words but our kindness that draws others to Christ.
The question is, how are you maintaining good works? Beyond attending services or quoting Scripture, how are you impacting the lives around you? Could your soul-winning efforts grow stronger if you paired your message with meeting everyday needs?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, show me practical ways to maintain good works. Help me bless others with compassion so that my life points them to You.
