Slow Down and Let God Be

Daily Devotional – Friday, March 22, 2024
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: patience…
Galatians 5:22 (NLT)

The town I live in is relatively laid-back compared to the capital city. That is why I am not a fan of city life. If there is a must-have virtue in this context, it must be patience. If you walk slowly, some pedestrians can ask you to move aside or push you aside.

The Fruit of the Spirit is Patience

At a personal, level, too, we reason as if there is a microwave for all our problems. If it does not happen within our timelines, it has taken too long. We don’t spare God, either. He is not good or loving enough when He delays His answers (actually, our answers).

Did you know that God wants us to slow down and leave our worries to Him? Indeed, God fills us with the Holy Spirit so that we might develop the kind of character that makes us trust Him fully, including in the busyness of our lives.

Slow Down and Let God Be

To quote the Apostle Paul, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: patience…” (Galatians 5:22). Believing in God’s impeccable timing and His ability to provide for our needs in His own way are the foundations of patience.

When faced with challenges at work, in the grocery store, or when standing in line, patience enables us to react with dignity and modesty. Let us slow down and let God be while we wait for the fulfilment of His promises. We do not wait in vain because God keeps His word.

Prayer
Dear God, I am slowing down to let You do what You know best.
